2012 Fulton County Fair Winners

Had twelve items at the Fair this past summer and of the twelve I won 12 ribbons (yes all 12) .  It was a great year at the Fair, the only blemish on it was that my mother-in-law wasn't there to share it with me. She had to check it out from heaven, but I think she'd had been proud of me and my accomplishments!  I will continue my entries each year if only to carry on the "Kreuz" name in the "Arts & Crafts" competition.  Not just quilts here, had wallhangings, table runners, pillows, even cross-stitch pictures.

I have many projects in the works right now, 5 quilts done in the past three months.  Looking forward to Christmas as some of my many projects are for family.  See you soon, Tina.
Finished my newest quilt: think the purple looks good, instead of the black i was going to use for the borders and the sashing.
Not a hard one to make, but lots of strips.
Oh, and holding the quilt is "TATA, Savannah and Colten"!

I found a place to sew!

DSC_0265

The clouds were low over the mountains this morning, and today’s weather was predicted to be a little dismal . . . cold & rainy . . . so I decided that I would make the best of it by getting some sewing done.  The boys were happy to watch horror movies in the RV all day, so after lunch I loaded up my sewing machine, cutting board, and iron and headed over to the Clubhouse.

I had the whole place to myself, so I spread my stuff out on several tables and made myself at home!

I had a couple of hours of peace & quiet, and got 2 more blocks done for the “Just Takes 2” quilt.

Slowly but surely, I’m still making progress!

Tri-State Shop Hop

P1010004

Last weekend the Good Sisters and our Mom travelled 700 miles, through 3 states, in 36 hours, and visited 8 quilt shops!  It was a longggggg two days, but a lot of fun!

Bright and early Saturday morning we met up with 25 or so other quilters (and 2 husbands – not ours!!)

P1010021

in Shipshewana, IN, and boarded our bus for a weekend of shopping!

Our first stop was in South Bend, IN, and we certainly hit the ground running . . . we found lots of great fabrics and patterns!  Each of us had designated projects that we were shopping for, and I think everybody found what they were looking for, and then some!

We travelled from Indiana, to Illinois, to Wisconsin, back to Illinois, and then back to Indiana.  We drove through big cities,

P1010011

small towns, and open countryside.P1010026

We had a great bus driver, who got us from shop to shop safely and in great time, and only got lost once!  Luckily, there was a convenient dairy farm for us to turn around in!  The cows probably wondered what that big bus was . . .

P1010018

We shopped . . .  and we shopped,

P1010029

and we ate  . . . and we ate!

After a wonderful dinner of salad, lasagna and spaghetti at the Quilter’s General Store in Rockford, IL, we stopped for the night at a Comfort Inn and checked into our rooms for the night.  Even after a couple of hours in the hotel bar (just the Good sisters and Mom – we didn’t see any of the other quilters there!), we were up bright and early again the next day, and ready for day 2!

P1010031

Along the way, we saw a giant wind farm,

P1010039

and some beautiful fall colors!  P1010027

We all enjoyed our weekend together, visited some really nice quilt shops,

P1010054

and even found one shop where we could have a “Quilting Retreat” together someday!

By the time we made our way back to Shipshewana, though, we were running out of steam!

P1010053

Back at the Davis Mercantile, we had our dinner and then were treated to Jo-Jo’s Pretzels by the owner of Lolly’s Quilt Shop (whose sister happens to be “the” Jo-Jo!)

P1010056

Tom and the boys had arrived to pick me up by then, so they each had a pretzel, too, and had a chance to say good-bye to their aunts and Grandma!

It was a great weekend, and I really enjoyed spending this time with my Mom and sisters before I take off on the open road!!

Sandi Here: 09/30/12
finished Anna's quilt: I love it.
Flannel was very easy to work with, but it does make a bit of mess with the sewing machine:
well, will clean it.
a couple of reminders when sewing: when you get towards the end and putting on borders, if you think it is stuck, don't yank it, look DOWN; probably you are standing on it.
And when sewing at my house, check the tension setting before starting: I have two munchins running around here that like to pretend they are sewing.and the tension dial is right there for them to change.
Next; get it quilted.

It's Been Awhile! Here's Tina!

The following quilt is one I really liked in one of the quilt magazines.  So when I showed the girls my sample (I always try it first before deciding), They decided we need to make this one for mom and then my sister Marci liked it also and made one for herself also.

The next quilt is one that was hanging in Baton Rouge in a Navy Museum.  It was gorgeous!

HERE IS MY BEAR'S FACE AND MY NEW QUILT

HERE IS MY NEW QUILT.  I REALLY LIKE IT.  I NOW HAVE 11 QUILTS ON TOP OF MY CEDAR CHEST, I THINK I NEED ANOTHER CABINET OR SOMETHING.  THE CEDAR CHEST IS FULL INSIDE TOO.

HERE IS MY BEAR FACE, I COULDN'T REMEMBER IF I PUT IT ON FOR YOU TO SEE SANDI.  DOES HE LOOK BETTER.
